What We Do & Why It Works

Why Acupuncture for Fertility?
Our Approach
The Natural Harmony Method
Fertility acupuncture should be more than just a protocol—it should feel personal, thoughtful, and truly supportive. At Natural Harmony, we bring together advanced training, integrative tools, and a deep commitment to whole-person care. Our team understands the complexity of fertility and the importance of feeling seen, heard, and genuinely cared for along the way.
What makes us different? It’s not just what we do, but how we do it—with clinical excellence, emotional presence, and collaborative care that meets you where you are.
Here’s what sets our team apart
1
Board-Certified Fertility Specialists (ABORM)
Natural Harmony is led by Dr. Merritt Jones, DAIM, LAc, FABORM, one of San Diego’s few practitioners certified by the Acupuncture Board of Reproductive Medicine (ABORM) — the gold standard in reproductive acupuncture training.
Our clinic also holds active memberships with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society (PCRS), keeping our team connected to the latest research and best practices in collaborative fertility care.
2
Whole-Person, Integrative Care
Fertility is connected to everything—hormones, digestion, stress, sleep, and inflammation. That’s why we take a whole-body approach to care, focusing on root causes instead of just symptoms. At Natural Harmony, we personalize your plan to support ovulation, hormone balance, egg and sperm quality, and nervous system resilience. This might include acupuncture, nutrition, herbs, targeted supplements, and lab testing to get clear on what your body really needs.
When your whole system is supported, fertility has a better chance to flourish.
3
We Collaborate With Your Doctor
If you’re working with an RE, OB/GYN, midwife, or donor/surrogacy team, you’re in good hands—we’ve built trusted, collaborative relationships with many of San Diego’s leading fertility clinics and OB/GYNs.. Our protocols are designed to enhance—not override—your existing plan, and we’re fluent in fertility medicine, committed to seamless, respectful coordination every step of the way.
4
Real Expertise, Real Empathy
With over a decade in practice, we’ve supported thousands of individuals and families through all kinds of fertility journeys, and we approach each one with deep care and respect. We take the time to get to know you—your story, your body, your goals—so we can build a plan that feels both personal and purposeful. Our care is collaborative, grounded, and always tailored to what you truly need.
5
Support That Grows With You
From first trying to conceive to postpartum support and beyond, we’re here for the whole story. Fertility isn’t just a moment in time, and neither is our care. As your journey unfolds, we adapt with you—whether you’re tracking your cycle, prepping for an embryo transfer, navigating early pregnancy, recovering postpartum, or supporting long-term hormone health. We’re in it with you, for as long as you need.

I highly recommend her!”

“Without a doubt, I know my baby girl is here because of the support of NHRH. They were my physical, mental, and emotional support system through loss, healing, and pregnancy.”
Frequently Asked Questions About Fertility Acupuncture in San Diego
How many acupuncture sessions do I need to support fertility? Most patients see the best results with consistent treatment over 3-4 cycles, ideally beginning before an IVF cycle or while actively trying to conceive. That said, we individualize every care plan. Some patients benefit from more frequent sessions during specific cycle phases, while others need less. We’ll map out a realistic plan at your first visit.
Can acupuncture really help with IVF success rates? Research on acupuncture and IVF outcomes is ongoing, and results vary across studies. What we do know is that acupuncture can support the factors that matter most during an IVF cycle — uterine blood flow, stress regulation, and nervous system balance. Many of our patients use acupuncture as a complement to their IVF protocol, and we work closely with their RE’s timeline to coordinate care.
Do you work with my fertility doctor (RE)? Yes — collaborative care is central to how we practice. We’re experienced in working alongside reproductive endocrinologists, OB/GYNs, midwives, and donor/surrogacy teams throughout San Diego. We’re fluent in fertility medicine and designed our protocols to complement, not compete with, your existing treatment plan.
Do you support LGBTQ+ patients and single parents by choice? Absolutely and wholeheartedly. We support all identities, bodies, and family structures, including those navigating reciprocal IVF, donor insemination, surrogacy, and fertility preservation. Our care is inclusive by design and free of assumptions, always.
